NORTH HARMONY, N.Y. (WIVB) — A routine traffic stop in Chautauqua County turned into a drug bust, netting various drugs prepped for sale Friday.
Sheriff’s Deputies pulled over Brian D. Olsen, 28, for a traffic infraction just before 3 p.m. and learned the vehicle’s registration was suspended and the vehicle was uninsured and on top of it all, Olsen’s driving privileges were suspended.
Police noticed the passenger in the Busti man’s car was making suspicious attempts to conceal packets, which officers later identified as drugs.
Officers said Melissa M. Ecker, 33, was found attempting to conceal methamphetamine packaged for sales, hash and prescription pills.
Olsen was ticketed for third degree aggravated unlicensed operator, operating a motor vehicle while registration suspended and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Ecker, a Panama woman, was charged with fifth degree felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Although police let Olsen go after ticketing him, Ecker was remanded to the Chautauqua County jail with bail set at $35,000 cash or $70,000 bond.
