The artist canceled his New Year’s Eve show due to heart complications. His family said Diamond had heart complications just days after Christmas, according to a prepared statement.

The Buffalo Music Hall of Famer is known for performing in the area for more than 40 years, his radio show “Saturday Night Fever” and his song recordings with the Goo Goo Dolls.

John Rzeznik and Rob Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls posted the following message on their Facebook page, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of dear friend Lance Diamond. He was a mentor as well as a friend.”

When News 4 spoke to fans just before New Year’s, they said Diamond was one of a kind, with a unique sound.

Fan Jerry Lockett said, “The crowd is good, everyone is having a good time. Lance is on stage doing his thing, he has that raspyness to his voice that’s second to none.”

Some people liked to call Diamond the “hardest working man in Buffalo show business.”
