Dog photos bring cheer to child at hospital

Facebook user Amy Majewski-Gerspach sent in a photo of her dog to the Facebook event.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Thousands of people around the world are working together to make a child in Phoenix, Arizona smile. Several western New Yorkers have participated in the Facebook movement, “Photo Doggies for Anthony.”

The Facebook page states it’s dedicated to a boy named Anthony, who is at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The host of the page, Ro Joe, is friends with Anthony’s family and writes, “Some days he gets doggy visits and some he does not. They make him smile.”

For the days Anthony doesn’t get doggy visits, Ro Joe asked Facebook users to send in photos of their dogs.

On January 4th, the page’s host said “God bless you and God bless the world wide web.” Adding, “We are over ½ million photos. Anthony is smiling joyfully because of you.”

Photos were sent to Anthony from as far as Australia. Western New Yorkers joined in the cause too.

Facebook user Amy Majewski-Gerspach sent in a photo of her dog, who was sitting up like a person in a recliner. Her message said, “Hi Anthony! Maggie from Buffalo says feel better soon!” The picture received more than 1,800 ‘likes.’
