Who will be on sidelines with Rex Ryan?

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – There is a lot of buzz surrounding what Rex Ryan’s plans are for Buffalo. The former Jets head coach will be introduced as head coach of the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday.

Bills owner Terry Pegula has called him the “best fit” for the team. Now fans want to know who else will be on the sidelines with him.

A couple reports have mentioned current defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz will be out due to different coaching styles. The NFL Network reported that Dennis Thurman will be the defensive coordinator, the same role he had with the Jets. Ryan is reportedly bringing Greg Roman in as offensive coordinator.

Fans and legendary members of the Buffalo Bills organization spoke out about the hire.

Marv Levy said, “I was surprised yes, because from the same division, a man who was just let go because the team hasn’t succeeded there. I don’t know the background, I don’t know why. I don’t know Rex, I don’t know who called the shot. I am less knowledgeable than 90 percent of the fantasy football fans to tell you the truth.”

A fan said, “I’m really excited about it. I think it’s an uncharacteristic move for the Bills. Big splash.”

Tuesday afternoon on Instagram, Jim Kelly’s wife Jill released this statement from her Hall of Famer husband. He said, “I am very excited about the hiring of Rex Ryan not only because of his coaching ability but also because of how he works with players and how players work for and respect him. He now has very talented players to go with the enthusiasm he brings to the locker room. I’m looking forward to seeing what he does on the offensive side of the ball. I’m also excited about Rex Ryan’s determination to bring winning football back to the RALPH, to the amazing Bills fans and to the great city and people of Buffalo! GO BILLS!”

The Bills will hold a press conference Wednesday at noon to officially introduce Rex Ryan as the new head coach.
