Crash kills elderly driver in Town of Royalton

TOWN OF ROYALTON, N.Y. (WIVB) – Authorities have identified Wilbur Rhinehart, 85, as the victim from Lockport who died in a crash on icy roads in Niagara County Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies tell News 4 the accident happened around 4 p.m. on Akron Road in the Town of Royalton.

Deputies say a car heading southbound slid into the northbound lane, crashing into a second car.

Rhinehart died on the scene. The other driver, 39-year-old James Zak from the Town of Royalton, is in serious condition at ECMC.
