Sheriff’s dogs to receive protective vests

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Three Erie County Sheriff’s Office dogs will soon receive ballistic vests for protection.  The bullet and stab protective vests are all thanks to the nonprofit, Vested Interest in K9s Inc.

Each vest goes for about $1,000, and has a five-year warranty. In the new vests, the dogs will perform their usual duties of routine searches of visitors, inmates and facilities for contraband.

Bili, Lord and Cer will get the vests in about three weeks. The vests will be embroidered with the sentiments, “This gift of protection provided by the Cannata Family Foundation, Inc.”, and “This gift of protection provided by The Hot Yoga Spot.”
