BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Sabres will look for their second straight win of 2015 when they return to First Niagara Center Tuesday night. The match up against the Saint Louis Blues is the first home game for the Sabres in almost three weeks. It kicks off a five game home stay, and the team will introduce a couple of off the ice promotions for fans to get involved in.
The Sabres Green Team wants to help the earth and our troops overseas. They’re holding a cell phone drive during all of the next five home games.
The donated phones will be recycled. For each one they receive, the non-profit Cell Phones for Soldiers will provide two and a half hours of free talk time for deployed troops.
For every save the Sabres goalies make this month, the First Niagara Foundation and the Sabres will pledge twenty dollars towards promoting financial literacy among Western New York’s children. The donation will go towards Junior Achievement of Western New York, a group that helps make sure children have the money mangement skills they need to succeed in the future. Jhonas Enroth made thirty-two saves in Tuesday night’s game in Montreal. That’s a $640 towards the cause.
We don’t know who is starting in net tonight, but if it’s Enroth, it will be the first time he wears his new goalie mask on home ice. It made its debut in Montreal on Tuesday. Enroth has all of his masks customized by an artist in his home country of Sweden. The new piece of equipment is glow in the dark and has a matte finish. This marks the first time Jhonas wears a mask by CCM in his professional career. As the team’s official Twitter account pointed out after Tuesday night’s win, the new mask is undefeated.
