BUFFALO N.Y. (WIVB) – Area roadways were slick with ice and snow Sunday afternoon and early evening causing cars to have a hard time staying on the road. Just after 3:30 p.m. emergency crews responded to an accident on Rt. 33, near Rt. 198.
Despite the poor driving conditions, some people made it out of the house, which is a good sign for businesses like La Tavola in North Buffalo.
“Days like this it seems like the majority of the orders we get are take out,” said La Tavola bartender Vince Marzullo. “It might get a little bit busier later on but on a day like today it might be all take out.”
Dave Black from North Buffalo spent the afternoon outside and all he wanted was a warm pizza and a relaxing night at home.
“Just got done shoveling the driveway and I don’t want to do any cooking, I just want to stay inside and get warm,” Black said.
City of Buffalo crews have been out since Sunday morning pre-salting roadways in anticipation of freezing rain and snow.
City officials remind all residents to follow parking regulations to allow plows to work on the roads in a timely manner. Crews will continue to be out throughout the evening and overnight.
