Canisius, Niagara drop MAAC contests Friday night

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Canisius and Niagara both opened the weekend with a loss Friday night.

Rider held on to beat the Griffs 60-59, while Saint Peter’s staged a huge second-half rally to top the Purple Eagles 77-65.

Josiah Heath scored a career-high 20 for Canisius, but Rider hit a couple clutch three-pointers down the stretch for the one-point win.

St. Peter’s scored 50 of their 77 points in the second half to beat Niagara.
