Buffalo Zoo welcomes baby giraffe

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Buffalo Zoo family is growing, with the birth of a 112-pound female giraffe.

Zuri was born to parents Agnes, 20, and Moke, 3.  Zuri was named by the zoo’s keeper staff, it means beautiful or lovely in Swahili.

The giraffe house will be closed temporarily while Agnes bond with her baby, and the herd adjusts to her presence. Visitors will be able to view the animals through the windows.

In October, the zoo welcomed a male giraffe named Sampson.
