Boiler fixed at Lackawanana school

LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Students in Lackawanna complained about the extremely cold conditions at the middle and high school on Monday.

Assistant Superintendent Lisa Almasi said the boiler broke on Sunday, and workers got it back up and running by Monday morning. She said it took time for the school to warm up.

Almasi said everything appears to be back to normal Tuesday.

Barbara Goff’s granddaughter Shayla Malone attends the middle school. Malone said she was shivering inside the school.

She said district officials told her the boiler at the school has been broken since last Tuesday, while students were on break. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
