Lancaster woman charged with drinking and driving twice over legal limit

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police in Cheektowaga stopped a woman for not wearing her seat belt Monday, and that led to a DWI charge.

New York State Police say Nicole Chayban, a 30-year-old Lancaster native, smelled like alcohol when they started interviewing her after pulling her over. Troopers didn’t administer a field sobriety test, but arrested her immediately, and gave her a breathalyzer test.

Police say the breath test came back at .22 percent — twice the legal limit — and was charged with not wearing a seat belt and DWI.  She’ll answer the charges on March 18 in Town of Cheektowaga Court. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
