Mayor kicks off summer internship program

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown is kicking off his internship program, with summer just a few months away.

Brown is calling on business owners to get involved early in his Annual Summer Youth Internship Program. He wants them to offer job opportunities for youth.

The jobs will help the teens learn new skills and earn extra money. Mayor Brown said young people should apply soon to be considered for 50 additional positions this year.

“So we have identified funding for 50 young people.” Brown said the funding will make sure teens are employed and matched with mentors over the summer.

Anyone between 14 and 21 who is interested can apply on the city’s website or at Buffalo City Hall. The application deadline is May 1st. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
