Jackson to receive Jefferson Award

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — While Buffalo goes through a player shake-up, a man who has remained steady in Buffalo is the recipient of an award from United Way.

A spokesperson from United Way said Fred Jackson won the Jefferson Awards Foundation’s prestigious Jefferson Award for his help with the community, his involvement and his charity.

Jackson, a Buffalo Bills running back, is known across western New York as one of the team’s emotional and physical leaders. He also spearheads many charitable efforts.

Jackson will receive the award in New York City at an annual ceremony on March 4. The Jefferson Awards Foundation is the country’s longest standing organization dedicated to awarding public service.
