Water main break to tie up Amherst traffic

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Hopkins Road northbound at Sheridan Drive is closed because of a water main break. Workers at the scene have the roadway opened up and are repairing the pipes.

The busy intersection in Amherst will be tied up through the morning commute. Crews on the scene said they will not be done until around noon Tuesday.

There have been dozens of water main breaks throughout western New York and northern Pennsylvania over the last few weeks. Breaks have caused problems on several roadways, and a state of emergency in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
