Heavy snow collapses former Portville roller rink

PORTVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A viewer alerted us to a building collapse of a former roller rink in Portville.

More than half of the building was crushed from the weight of snow on the roof.  Emergency crews were called to the scene around 11:30 a.m.

The Olean Times Herald reported the building at 504 Portville Ceres Road once housed the Double C Roller Rink.  More recently it was a Family Dollar and then a Bargain Outlet store.

No injuries were reported in the collapse.

There was nothing of value inside the structure outside of heating units and lighting fixtures.
