Jackson humbled by fan support in face of rumors

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — In the face of rumors of a rift between Buffalo Bills’ iconic running back Fred Jackson and the team, fans took to the web to make their feelings known.

An online petition over just 24 hours accumulated over 4,000 signatures to “Keep Fred Jackson a Bill” and a unique website was the face of the petition. It features a GIF of one of Jackson’s most powerful touchdown rushes of 2014.

The website, WeLoveFred.com allows people to both sign and leave a comment. Many who haven’t signed the petition took to Twitter and Facebook to show their support. One man made a sign while decked out in Buffalo Bills gear to show his support.

Jackson himself, taken by the support of his fans, took to Twitter to thank his fans for their vocal support.

Jackson is still on contract with the Buffalo Bills, and it looks like his spot on the roster is safe, but he could face considerably less play time with new running back prospects on the way.
