Visitors help rescue man at Terrapin Point

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – Visitors to Terrapin Point, in Niagara Falls, helped rescue an amateur photographer on Sunday.

A husband and wife said they saw the man climbing a snow bank and go over a fence to get some pictures. The man fell over the fence, and slid down nearly 50 feet. It was so slippery he couldn’t get up by himself. terrapin point

Someone was able to tie a traffic cone to a wedding runner, and pull the man to safety.

Jennifer Schumacher said, “I thought ‘oh boy,’ that’s not real smart, and no sooner that I think that, he took a couple steps, he took some pictures, he took a couple steps towards the slope, and the next thing was he’s on his butt, sliding down the slope.”

Jennifer said the man only had two cameras with him, and wasn’t wearing gloves.

Jennifer said it was a scary moment, but luckily there were plenty of people around to help. She said they go to the spot all the time to take pictures, and have never seen anything like this before. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
