UB wary of WVU press, rebounding

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – With just three days remaining before UB makes its NCAA Tournament debut, the Bulls are diving into the gameplan for West Virginia.

The five-seed out of the Big 12 has a couple major strengths: forcing turnovers with their press, and some elite rebounders.

Those are two areas the Bulls are focusing on, going into their matchup this week. The rebounding battle will certainly be one to watch.

“It’s going to be the mental part of being disciplined enough to put a body on those guys and make sure you’re not trying to get into a jumping contest with them, because they’re going to win that,” said head coach Bobby Hurley.

“You have to make sure you box out and take care of your responsibilities before the ball even gets off the rim. Some of it is luck, some of it’s hustle, and a lot of it’s desire. We have all those qualities on this team and I think we’ll be ready for the challenge,” said senior Will Regan.

The 12th-seeded Bulls take on WVU Friday at 2:10pm in Columbus, Ohio.
