Residents speak against e-cigarette bill

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Some Erie County residents spoke out against the ban of electronic cigarettes, Wednesday. The legislature passed the bill last month. It bans the use of the devices where smoking is already banned.

Many people urged Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz to stop the bill.

One resident said, “I urge you to veto this proposed vaping ban, because it protects cigarette markets.  It takes away the rights of all Erie County employers to establish their own vaping and smoke cessation policies, demonizes vapors, and encourages them to switch back to deadly cigarettes.”

The ban passed the legislature by a vote of nine to one.  Poloncarz hasn’t signed it.
