Blast from the past: Pac-Man on Google Maps can be challenging

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A new feature from Google Maps may not be around for the long haul, but it’s giving some old Atari experts a run for their money.

Google revealed their April Fools’ Day prank a day early on March 31, and it got a lot of feedback. Many people tried out the ability to change any map road into a Pac-Man game.

The only condition is that the screen must have a sufficient amount of roads in the set area. All other rules of Pac-Man still apply as they would in the Namco classic. Players still run away from ghosts and for a brief time can chase them after consuming the power-up dot.

To play a game of your choice, open this link and find a location which has a number of roads. The Pac-Man button is in the bottom left hand corner. On mobile devices, Pac-Man can be played on the Google Maps App.

News 4 found three locations which proved challenging in the Buffalo area. You can see them below.
