Record breaking ham donation helped along by Russel Salvatore

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Thanks to the efforts of Russel Salvatore and the Food Bank of western New York, 500 families will have hams during their Easter dinners.

That’s a record breaking number of hams donated. Food Bank of western New York officials say a drive for help at Russel’s Steaks, Chops and More called “Ham-A-Lot” netted 250 donated hams, and Salvatore matched the donation.

“The generosity of western New Yorkers and the generosity of Russ Salvatore is going to make a lot of families that otherwise wouldn’t have had a ham dinner very happy on Easter Sunday,” Mike Billon, Food Bank of western New York representative, said.

Everybody who donated to the drive was entered for a giveaway. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
