Sabres to hold fan appreciation weekend

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Buffalo Sabres said the team would be honoring its fans in an appreciation weekend during the final home and away games on April 10 and 11.

April 11 will be the focus of the weekend, which will salute its fans for their dedication as the Sabres have played one of the least successful seasons in team history. April 11 will feature a party in the Alumni Plaza in the area just outside the First Niagara Center.

Sabres officials say it will have a little something for everybody. The party will be presented by Tops Friendly Markets and will span from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., featuring live music and merchandise giveaways. Kids will be able to enjoy face paintings and other age-appropriate activities.

Those who attend the game afterwards will be able to enjoy discounted concessions and some season ticket holders will be winners of a game-worn jersey right off the backs of a Buffalo Sabre. One lucky person who wins the 50-50 raffle will receive a 2015 Lexus NX 200t along with half of the raffle sales from that night.

Those not attending the games can also watch the games on television and participate in games seen on the TV screen to win prizes online. Those participating digitally will have to enter URLs found on-screen during the game. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
