LEROY, N.Y. (WIVB) — A LeRoy woman is facing two felonies after police say they uncovered an active welfare fraud scheme.
New York State Police say their investigations unit worked with Social Services in Orleans County to uncover Sharalee A. Teerlinck’s alleged scheme to receive welfare while fully employed.
Troopers say Teerlinck accepted $1,000 in public assistance benefits which she wasn’t entitled to due to being gainfully employed. They say she also submitted a form for re-certification which listed a false household income.
Teerlinck was arrested and charged with first degree offering to file a false instrument and fourth degree welfare fraud — two class E felonies. She’ll return to court on April 8.
