Attorney General files suit over magazine prices

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) – The New York State Attorney General is fighting to ensure magazine subscribers get the best price. Eric Schneiderman is filing suit against some publishing companies that claim they have the lowest rates.

Schneiderman said in many cases, victims of Orbital Publishing and other companies, pay more than double the newsstand price. He said that should be considered fraud.

The lawsuit claims the publishing groups have sent millions of unauthorized subscription notices to unsuspecting consumers.

Schneiderman said, “My office received a dozen complaints..We are taking aggressive actions..Who play by the rules.”
