Darien Lake says no to hosting Gus Macker tournament

DARIEN CENTER, N.Y. (WIVB) — There won’t be a Gus Macker 3-on-3 tournament in 2015 at Darien Lake.

Darien Lake’s General Manager Chris Thorpe says timing difficulties held Darien Lake back from hosting the popular basketball event.

Although they did not bring it back in 2015, Thorpe says they will look to the future for potentially bringing it back.

Gus Macker organizers have completely removed registration for a Buffalo tournament in 2015, but teams that can arrange travel can still participate in an Olean tournament.

The Gus Macker 3-on-3 tournament is a popular nation-wide event drawing hundreds of teams from western New York alone.
