Social worker fined, ordered to pay back $100k to insurance companies

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A private practice, licensed clinical social worker who was convicted of theft from a health care benefit program will have to pay it all back.

Eugene Domenico, a 62-year-old Lockport native, will have to pay back $100,286 which he stole from various health care insurance providers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY for services he didn’t provide.

Police say he billed insurance providers for services he didn’t actually provide by reporting patient services despite knowing they weren’t actually provided. Domenico cost companies just over $100,000, but he’ll also have to pay a $10,000 fine.

Domenico will also spend two years on probation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
