LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) — More details are emerging from a Tuesday shooting in Lackawanna after police say they arrested two brothers involved in the altercation.
Police say a fight broke out between two people at Jimmy’s Store on Holland Avenue and say one person broke away from the fight and called his brother. Police say the man’s brother came to the store with a loaded .40 caliber handgun to help his brother.
Police say Lavon Birden, a 23-year-old Lehigh Avenue man, was involved in the original fight and his brother Jamal Birden, 19, came to aid him. Police say it didn’t take long for them to corner the other man who was involved in the fight. Police say the man locked himself in his car to escape the two brothers when Jamal Birden shot the car.
The intended victim of the shooting escaped with no injuries and called police.
Police say they apprehended the Birden brothers Wednesday afternoon and charged both with first degree reckless endangerment, possession of a stolen weapon and criminal possession of stolen property — three felonies.
