Barn fire breaks out at WNY dairy farm

WYOMING COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVB) — Firefighters were called to a barn fire in Wyoming County around 2 a.m. Thursday. Flames broke out around 2 a.m. at a sugar shack at the Pearl Dairy, which is on Centerline Road in the Town of Sheldon.

Flames quickly spread to another building, and crews were able to contain the flames from spreading further.

There were no injuries in the blaze, and all of the animals are okay.

Sheldon Volunteer Company Chief Rick Brzezicki said, “After arriving on scene, found out it was their sugar house where they cook syrup in, there was some exposure to the barn next to it. We were able to knock that down before it spread to the rest of the farm.”

The owner told News 4 that this will end his maple syrup production this year, and he will have to find someone to buy the remaining sap. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
