WNY has chance to see partial lunar eclipse

Associated Press

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Although there’s only a low chance, parts of western New York may be able to see a lunar eclipse Saturday morning.

Just before sunrise on Saturday morning, people in certain lucky parts of western New York may be able to catch a glimpse of a partial lunar eclipse. Although other parts of the nation have a better chance of seeing the eclipse, News 4 meteorologists say not to give up on a view.

The best place to see the eclipse will be the south shore of Lake Ontario in Niagara and Orleans counties. just before sunrise in the 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. hour.

Saturday’s eclipse will technically be a full lunar eclipse, which only comes around every few years, but each year several eclipses are generally caught.

Anybody who glimpses a shot of the lunar eclipse should send in pictures to newsroom@wivb.com.
