Jamestown area issues discolored water alert

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) — A water alert in the Jamestown area wasn’t a familiar boil water alert, it was a cautionary warning for those who were attempting to wash clothes.

Officials in the area say a water line feeding a factory broke, so they were forced to slow down part of the water main to fix the leak. That fix led to discolored water, which although safe to drink, would stain laundry.

The main was flushed and the discoloration could last for some time, but there will be no boil water order.
