Lancaster National Speedway making changes for new season

LANCASTER, NY (WIVB) – There is a new management team at Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway and they are making changes to prepare for a new season of racing.

Repairs and improvements at the decades-old track on Gunville Road were delayed by the long, harsh winter according to General Manager Melissa McGowan, but work crews are now on site. The track has pushed back its opening date, now anticipated to be in early May.

Race fans will see improvements to the grandstands, revitalization of the track, and changes to the signage, including restoration of the iconic speedway logo.

Raceway supporters are being invited to join in a Community Cleanup day on April 18. The track needs help with painting, repairing, and cleaning various areas of the grounds. Organizers ask people to bring rakes, tools, paint brushes and work gloves.

Action for the 2015 season is set to get underway Friday, May 8 with time trials and qualifying for the weekly drag racing series.
