What diet programs really work

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – It’s the time of year again when people are hitting the gym to get back in shape for summer. If you’re looking to get fit, a new study has gathered results about which diet programs actually work.

Researchers from John Hopkins University looked into 12 popular diet programs to see which routines gave people the best results.

Out of the 12 programs studied, which included Nutra System and the Atkins Diet, two programs stood out. Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig were found to help dieters lose weight and keep it off for at least a year. Those on Weight Watchers shed 3% more of their starting weight after 12 months than those not dieting. Jenny Craig users lost nearly 5%.

Though this seems like a small amount, researchers say this still causes significant improvement to people’s health.
