UB sees spike in graduation rate following NY program

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The president of the University at Buffalo is praising a grant program passed by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The New York SUNY 2020 Challenge is a 2011 program with the goal of promoting academics at SUNY universities and drawing students to New York. UB President Dr. Satish Tripathi says the program is working.

“We have hired 275 faculty, a successful finish in full program has been initiated and 1,000 additional courses for students have been added,” Tripathi said.

Tripathi credits the program for raising UB’s graduation rate, which is now higher than the national average.
