CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man trusted to defend those in need of counsel is answering charges of promoting prostitution.
Police in Cheektowaga say on Thursday they arrested Richard Shaw, a man with a Cheektowaga practice, after an incident earlier in April. Police say they’re in the middle of an investigation, but have charged Shaw with promoting prostitution and official misconduct.
Shaw allegedly offered services to an accused prostitute in exchange for sexual favors.
Sunil Bakshi, Shaw’s defense attorney, told News 4, “Shaw stands by his not guilty plea, denies the allegations, believes he has valid defenses and looks forward to his day in court.”
At the office where Shaw practiced law before his arrest, his name was obscured from a sign outdoors.
Police say more details will become available as the investigation moves forward.
