Driver arrested for allegedly hitting police car

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A previously convicted drunk driver was arrested Tuesday after allegedly striking a police vehicle and not stopping.

Police say they stopped David Zielinski’s car after he hit the car of an Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy who was responding to an accident. Zielinski allegedly continued driving after hitting the car, but was tracked down nearly a mile away.

Zielinski’s license was suspended due to his previous convictions, so he was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, driving without a license, failure to drive on the right side of a roadway, speeding and failure to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle.

He was jailed on $500 bail and will return to court in Elma Town Court at a later date. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
