Woman arrested for false kidnapping emails

MACHIAS, N.Y. (WIVB) – Chanelle Davis of Cuba was arrested by State Police in Machias on April 11.

Police say someone reported to them on April 1 that Davis had emailed the person and said she had been kidnapped. Police also say the person received emails from other individuals saying the same thing as Davis.

But after an investigation it was determined that Davis was sending the all the emails herself.

She was advised to stop but did not, and was arrested.

She was charged with aggravated harassment in the second degree and falsely reporting an incident in the third degree.

She was arraigned in the Town of Machias court and released on her own recognizance. She is due in the Town of Farmersville court at a later date.
