BLASDELL, N.Y. (WIVB) – A woman in Bladell was charged with driving under the influence of drugs with a 4-year-old child in the car.
Police arrested Amber L. Minter, 25, of Hamburg late Monday morning.
Police responded to a call of a person sleeping behind the wheel of a car parked in front of Blasdell Elementary School at around 11:30 a.m.
Police say they found Minter passed out with the engine running. The child was in the back seat in a booster seat.
Police determined that Minter was under the influence of drugs.
Minter allegedly told police that she drove her children to school at 9 a.m. and fell asleep while making phone calls.
She was charged under Leandra’s Law for operating under the influence of drugs while a person less than 16 was in the car. Child Protective Services was also contacted and is investigating.
She was also charged with having a suspended registration and an uninsured vehicle and endangering the welfare of a child.
