Two tons of medical products taken off the streets

WILLIAMSVILLE N.Y. (WIVB) – Community members and Erie county leaders joined efforts to remove unwanted prescription drugs from city streets.

The Drug Drop-Off event was held at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville.

The drop-off gave residents the chance to safely get rid of their over-the-counter medications, syringes, inhalers and other products.

News 4 was told that more than 1,400 people participated, dropping off more than two tons of medical products. Organizers say it’s the biggest drop-off the program has ever seen.

Erie county offers a number of 24-hour drop-off locations.
