Man arrested for attempting to use fake $20 bills in Alden

ALDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) — Identical serial numbers tipped one perceptive cashier off to a set of fake $20 bills which led to the arrest of a West Seneca man.

That cashier called Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies after the man who attempted to use two fake $20 bills to pay for gasoline became angry. The cashier refused to accept the fake money. Police arrived to the scene while the man was still in his car.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Ryan Domkowski, 24, on felony possession of a forged instrument and unlawful possession of marijuana after police searched his car. Police say they found four fake $20 bills, each with identical serial numbers.

Domkowski is to be held on $50,000 bail while he awaits a court date on May 8. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
