New public art unveiled at Canalside

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An artist on the international scene is now displaying a sculpted work of art at Canalside in Buffalo.

Sculptor Jaume Plensa has more than 30 pieces across the world displayed publicly, but thanks to a partnership between Plensa and Erie County, the City of Buffalo and Albright-Knox, one piece will be displayed at Canalside.

The sculpture, called Silent Poets was created in 2012 and as of Tuesday can be seen on the lawn near the Central Wharf.

Another Plensa sculpture is currently in Buffalo. That piece is called Laura, 2012 and is a 20-foot tall marble bust on Albright-Knox’s campus facing the Scajaquada Expressway. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
