Bus driver accused of driving bus drunk with 35 kids aboard

CORTLANDT, N.Y. (WIVB) — A woman trusted to commute children safely from home to school and back was accused of driving drunk and getting into an accident with children aboard.

Police arrested and accused Mary A. Coletti, 56, with DWI under Leandra’s Law. Police say she was driving her Lakeland School District bus at 7:00 a.m. when she sideswiped a telephone pole on Red Mill Road with 35 school children aboard.

After she was arrested, police say they tested her blood alcohol content, and say it was at .13 percent.

Coletti was placed behind bars on $1,000 bail. She’ll return to court on May 18.
