NCCC professor arrested for endangering child

SANBORN, N.Y. (WIVB) — An English professor at Niagara County Community College was arrested Monday after a concerned bystander called in a baby left in a car.

Police say during the day on Monday Dr. Nicole Bishop, 41,  left her 2-year-old child in the car for about 40 minutes while teaching a class just before 12 p.m. NCCC is cooperating with authorities following the arrest.

A bystander reportedly saw Bishop walk out of her car to class while leaving her child in the car. Police investigators say they located Bishop based on her parking tag. They say even though the window was slightly cracked, it was a very warm day.

Bishop was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and released on an appearance ticket. She’ll retain custody of her child for now, but police notified Child Protective Services.

Bishop will return to Cambria Town Court on June 2. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
