Jack Eichel is skating with plenty of NHL talent in the world championships – and fitting right in. The likely #2 overall draft pick this year scored the game-winner Tuesday to lead Team USA past Slovakia 5-4.

With 28 seconds left in overtime, Eichel found the net to send Team USA into the quarterfinal round. The US won its preliminary round group, setting up a Thursday matchup against Switzerland.

The Buffalo Sabres hold the #2 pick in this year’s draft. With Connor McDavid expected to go first overall to Edmonton, Eichel is the odds-on favorite to land in Buffalo with the second pick.
