SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. (WIVB) — Natives of Lockport were nabbed late Monday night following the robbery of a local store called Rue21.
MetroNews in West Virginia reported police detained the three people after they fled the scene and were stopped while driving a vehicle which was similar to one at the scene of the crime.
Police told MetroNews that one of three WNY natives walked into the Rue21 with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. The three allegedly fled together after stealing $360.
Philip A. Ruiz, 24, Brandon Lake, 24, and Andrew J. Baily, 22, were each detained, but police say they think Ruiz wielded the gun.
Ruiz has a history of crime. Police in western New York say Ruiz is a felon, convicted of attempted burglary. He was brought in September on charges of possessing a firearm, a privileged not afforded to felons.
All three of the suspects were arrested, arraigned and put in jail on charges of armed robbery. They’ll be held on $250,000 bail.
Ruiz is additionally charged again with being a felon in possession of a firearm, and additional charges are pending against the other accused criminals.
