BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Family of a college student who died after pledging to a West Virginia University fraternity are gearing up to take legal action.
Nolan Burch, 18, died two days after frat members found him unconscious in a frat house after he was given a bottle of alcohol and instructed to drink it. Burch’s family says they’re looking to keep it from happening to anybody else.
“To get the appropriate changes made and to get not only the attention here but in other states throughout the country its important that there be some precedent,” Terry Connors, the Burch family attorney says.
Burch’s family has already created a foundation called NMBFoundation.com and says they’re taking the opportunity to help educate other young people. Burch’s mother says her son would be proud if he knew his memory was being used to help educate others.
