Man sentenced to 20 years behind bars for child porn

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man who was convicted of receiving child porn won’t see the light of day soon.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Thomas A. Sparks, 23, was caught by FBI agents with child pornography onto a flash drive. Sparks admitted to agents that he downloaded child porn and placed the images onto a flash drive, which he smashed just before he answered the door.

FBI agents repaired the flash drive and found 94 images of child pornography. Agents also recovered a contract, which Sparks allegedly drafted for his girlfriend. Its terms read that in the event they married and had children, she would help him commit acts of child exploitation.

Sparks pleaded guilty in a plea agreement which found him guilty of receipt of child pornography. As part of the plea agreement, he also admitted he engaged in sex abuse or exploitation of a minor.

Sparks was Wednesday sentenced to spend 20 years behind bars and spend 15 years under supervised release.
