BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Seven people from the Western and Central New York areas have departed for Texas and Oklahoma to assist in storm relief efforts.
Volunteers Lucille Frisicano of Webster and Diane Sargent of Lockport are two of the Western New York natives who are offering aid to the areas affected by recent tornadoes and severe storms.
Frsicano is serving as a Health Services Supervisor and Sargent will be a Disaster Assessment Supervisor.
Jay Bonafede, a spokesperson for the Red Cross, points out that volunteers from other parts of the country came to the Western New York area to help during the November storm.
“We had some from, the furthest away that I heard during that response was Wisconsin that came in to help, so it’s that trade off. We needed help in November, and now we have folks that have the qualifications, the skill set, that’s specifically needed right now in either Oklahoma or Texas,” said Bonafede.
Another volunteer from Rochester who has already spent a few weeks there is returning to Western New York.
