Seneca Nation of Indians severs ties with Steve Pigeon

ALLEGANY, N.Y. (WIVB) — Following state and federal investigations into one of western New York’s most powerful political operatives, a powerful organization is severing its ties with Steve Pigeon.

The Seneca Nation of Indians announced Tuesday it would terminate its contract with Papi Consulting, a company started in part by Steve Pigeon.

“The Seneca Nation has terminated its consulting agreement with Papi Consulting LLC effective immediately,” Maurice John Sr., Seneca Nation of Indians president, said. “Due to the recent circumstances involving the firm’s founding partner, Steve Pigeon, the Nation has decided it is in our best interest to end this brief association.”

A contract between the two entities was struck in May of 2015.

Pigeon has not yet faced any charges following raids on his home, in which documents and technology were seized by the FBI and New York State Police. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
