TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Investigation into a string of jewelry thefts led police in the Town of Tonawanda to one cleaner who advertised her services on the website Craigslist.
Police say victims in the Town of Tonawanda hired Michelle T. Eubanks, 39, and reported missing jewelry after inviting her to clean several times. Several reports to local police sparked the investigation, in which police say they interviewed Eubanks.
Eubanks allegedly denied stealing jewelry when first confronted, forcing police to dig deeper. The Town of Tonawanda police say they worked backwards through a local pawn shop which had records linking Eubanks to the stolen jewelry after pawning it.
Police say when confronted with the new evidence, Eubanks confessed to stealing over $10,000 in jewelry.
The pawn shop had additional jewelry which Eubanks reportedly pawned; police say anybody who hired Eubanks and is missing jewelry should contact their local police.
